User Reviews about Garmin nüvi 265 265T 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic (Factory Refurbished)
Recondioned unit works as well as the new unit we bought last summer! Best feature: small but large enough to easily read map. -- Fabulous little GPS. Can be used on bike or foot, too.
I got a new 265t last year for my daughter who was new in college. We have at least one GPS for each car in the family, but the 265t has been the best among them. My wife used the 265t once and likes it over the others, so I bought her this one. She is very happy because she does not know it's refurbished and it just looks and works as well as the original one plus a free map update.
The 3.5" screen is the smallest, but it has all the features that you need. Best GPS and good deal. -- The best GPS in my house
I purchased this primarilly to help find my way around North Carolina for a summer job. I was looking for a GPS with bluetooth so I could sync to my phone. For the price range I was looking (under $100) this GPS had the best reviews among those that included this feature. The speaker is plenty loud, but the quality is not great. During the 36 hour drive from Utah to North Carolina, I had several phone conversations using this unit, and was able to hear and undersand what was being said on top of the road noise.
That being said, everything else works great. The screen is bright, crisp, and easy to see. It gives the speed limit on all major highways, so I never have to guess. I used points of interest (POI) to find gas stations while driving, and have used POI to find shopping areas/recreation/parks. The built in voices are clear and easy to understand. This GPS also has an option that allows you to record your own voice for directions. I used my kids to record the voices, and now get to listen to them give me directions. That option has been a lot of fun.
Overall, this GPS has everything I need, and can not think of any reason to pay for a higher end model. -- Does everything I need and more
After receiving GPS I updated the software and maps with my PC. Works great before and after the updates. Need to update to have the latest maps. Signal very reliable in NY. -- Great GPS and low price.
I've been using my Garmin Refurbished 265T that I purchased on sale with rebate from another dealer for about a week so far. Knock on wood, its holding up great.
The item came in a Garmin labeled blue and white box with all of the items factory sealed. It also came with a USB cable which I was not expecting but happy to receive. I fully charged mine via the USB cable before using. Then I went outside and let it do a first time satellite search which took about 15 minutes to complete.
My unit cosmetically looks and functions as good as new. Other than the box, I think you would be hard pressed to differentiate between the refurbed unit and a new one. Prior to this, I had the Garmin 1250T and it would constantly freeze up and not turn back on for 15-20 minutes. I believe this was due to overheating and its a known problem with that unit. The 265T is a good replacement. I'm one of the rare people who actually prefers a 3.5" screen as I find the larger ones to be more distracting.
The only Con for this unit is the volume. I have mine at 80% and it still sounds low. This seems to be a common charaacteristic of this unit. With the windows open going 65mph, you do have to listen a little carefully to fully hear the directions but my 1250T did the exact same thing. I shoudl note that you can hear them well just that you have to try a little harder under noisy conditions. I wouldn't put the volume on this past 80% either as it can get crackly and you risk blowing the speaker.
I live in a heaviy congested metro area and I find the traffic feature useful and mostly accurate. Only problem for me is by the time I get the notification, there are very few routes I can take so I am stuck any way but its good to know how far the traffic is.
I haven't yet updated the firmware and maps but even on a refurbished unit you should get the 1 free map update from Garmin within 60 days of first acquiring satellites.
