What more can I say. This item does what it is supposed to do. I have been using this with my Archos 5 Internet tablet with the NDrive software and have had no problems. -- Item does what it is supposed to do
I'm really impressed with this. Overall, the quality is MUCH better than I was expecting.
This is very well designed. For instance, I was expecting this to be a flimsy suction cup that I'd have to worry about falling from the windshield while driving, but it has a locking lever that makes this VERY sturdy and strong. The adjust-ability range is just awesome, you can mount it virtually anywhere, at any angle. It comes with snap-in adapters for the Flash Drive (8/16/32 GB) and HDD models (160/500 GB). Putting the Archos in and taking it out is quick and easy, literally takes just a second. I think the actual design of the mount looks cool too!
Regarding the FM transmitter, I was impressed with the sound quality. I did not think it would perform as well as it does. The bass output is much, much stronger than playing a CD, which surprised me. Of course the quality of the music file you're playing has a huge effect on the sound quality, but 99% of my music library so far, sounds perfect when played through the FM transmitter. No background noise or static whatsoever!
To sum it up: You get a sturdy, high-quality mount, a way to integrate your player to ANY car (or home or work for that matter) stereo, AND it charges the Archos...all for only 31 bucks!!
I could not be happier with my purchase! Thank you Archos and Amazon! -- Excellent quality, Perfect Performance!
This item was mainly bought to just hold the archos 5 somewhere useful for car usage. It does serve its purpose. I give the suction cup a 3/5 since it did slip off of the winshield once. To its credit however, the Archos 5 is NOT a lightweight device. We positioned the mount on the windshield, but low enough not to obstruct road view and where the bottom of the mount also rests on the dashboard.
The charger is a nice add-on. I can't speak for the fm transmitter. I use my 3.5 jack for auxillary input to my head unit. I was never a fan of the fm transmitter sound in the past with other devices.
This is a great buy, if for nothing else, I don't know where you can find another product of this type for the Archos 5 internet tablet. -- Hold Me!
I bought this product for both the charger and the suction cup mount. I think the mount is nice and works very well from what I've seen over the past few weeks. I'm not sure how other cars looks with a large item on the window but I didn't like that in my Sebring. So what I did was use a Dremel to cut a 2x2 piece of plastic that the cup with stick to, then I used some velcro strips to attach that to a bare part of my dashboard. Now I feel that the unit is mounted in a useable way without the player being a distraction to the driver.
The charger/FM cable is alright. It does server it's purpose as a charger and it enables the builtin FM transmitter options on the Archos 5 IT. However if you don't have the adapter plugged into your car and only attached to the device, it still supports the FM option. I'm not convinced that this cable truly houses any of the items needed to broadcast over FM, but rather a marked up accessory to enable the feature. Compared to the other products it's nice to only need 1 item plugged in. The other charger/transmitters require the USB or dock port be connected to charge, and then the 3.5mm audio jack for the FM. So from that perspective it's nice. I think I may ditch the charger for a microUSB charger and just get a better stereo to support Bluetooth and/or a 3.5mm audio jack or USB since they're sub $200 now. I hope some of you find this useful in making your decision. For me, the audio quality of FM is garbage and I'm willing to pay for better. -- Mount is nice, the charger/FM cable may be a scam
